ENDOWED POSITIONS
Endowed faculty roles are investments that yield extra income for instructors and scholars, usually named
after donors or their loved ones. They supplement salaries, fund research projects, equip laboratories, pay
for travel and other expenses and hire graduate students.
There are 20 total endowed
faculty funds.
7 new endowed faculty roles
were funded in 2024 alone.
“Endowed faculty positions are a powerful tool in both attracting and
retaining the most talented faculty. These prestigious awards directly impact
the reputation of the institution and enhance the education opportunities of
our students.”
— John Buckwalter, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
Scholarships and endowed faculty positions support more than just one student or faculty member. The
impact of these investments is felt on both a broad and deep scale.
At the School of Nursing, for example, scholarship funds enable student Riely Pierson to pursue her
calling to become a nurse while raising a family. She looks forward to providing health care to her
community.
“Being a little bit of a nontraditional student but also being a
mom, the scholarships have been incredible because it’s given
me an opportunity to do what I really feel like I’m called to do. It’s
incredible for donors to believe in students like us, particularly in
health care and in nursing, to really invest in the future of those who
will be providing health care in our communities.”
— Riely Pierson, College of Health Sciences, Nursing
